Conference Summary : Dr.Caroline Peacock from Emory University's Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics, will teach medical social workers tools to care for ourselves, to better serve our clients and patients.
Our in-person participants will be provided a light breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We will also have sponsors for participants to meet. There will be prizes and giveaways!
Speaker Bio: Rev. Caroline Peacock, DMin, LCSW, MDiv, is the Director of Spiritual Health for Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. She also serves as Vice Chair for Wellness for the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Peacock earned her Doctor of Ministry from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She has a Master of Divinity from General Theological Seminary, and a Master of Social Work from City University of New York Hunter College.
Dr. Peacock is a Certified Educator with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, an ordained Episcopal priest, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a certified teacher in Cognitively Based Compassion Training™. She has been with Emory Healthcare since 2013, where she received her training as a spiritual health educator. Prior to training in Spiritual Health, she worked as a clinical social worker in New York City. She has a passion for offering compassionate, respectful, inclusive and effective patient and family-centered care.

- Explain the potential benefits of cultivating compassion for enhancing personal resilience and wellbeing, especially for healthcare professionals in high-stress and high-performance environments.
- Connect research outcomes of compassion training with the potential to ameliorate rates of anxiety, fatigue, moral injury, vicarious trauma, depression, burnout, addiction, and suicidality in the healthcare professions.
- Practice research-based contemplative exercises, learn how to apply them in everyday life, and understand how these skills can be part of a sustained contemplative approach to creating an affirming life as a committed healthcare professional.
